selfies versus self-portraits

     The definition of selfie is a photograph taken by the subject. The definition of a self portrait is a portrait of an artist produced or created by that artist. The difference between the two is that the selfie is more likely to be taken by a cellular device.

     I personally prefer the self portraits because there is more flexibility to use imagination and creativity. What i mean by this is that with self portraits the most common form is paintings, which when painting there is a choice to exaggerate certain features. In a selfie there is that choice, it seems more uncomfortable and "illegal".

     Selfies seem to be overused and abused, resulting in repetition. Self portraits have a huge amount of choices to express yourself, while selfies seem generic.
