A husband took these photos of his wife and captured love and loss beautifully.

1. at first it was happy, joyful. then the cancer destroyed the joyful moods and went to a pitiful end.
2. the photos can't capture everything they went through.
3. i have been in this situation, with as weak i am to control my feelings, i probably wouldn't be able                     to pick up a camera.

africa

when i read this, i was able to experience, second hand, how a photographer set up and created his photographs. the photos were graceful and informative. the photographer did spend most of his time informing us about animal endangerment and charities.
the photo is of a skull laying in the desert with cloudy sky behind it. i chose this photo because of  the skulls odd shape, and the interesting floor.

the rule is simplicity, this is because the object is in the middle while the background and ground are plain.

Pentax 67II

this is important for brandt so his style can be unique and to his specification

he found africa interesting, he wanted to capture the animals souls.

to inform people off the endangered animals, and their gracefulness, their souls are more important that product/money

I want to get a real sense of intimate connection with each of the animals - with that particular lion or elephant in front of me. I believe that being that close to the animal makes a huge difference in the photographers ability to reveal its personality. You wouldn't take a portrait of a human being from a hundred feet away and expect to capture their spirit; you'd move in close.

great black and white photographers

I've always felt like the photographs had a sense of mean humor and sadness. the bare bodies have always intrigued me.

i see nude bodies, frozen in place. {left}-his shiny body and the backdrop create balance. {right}- his hair is in full blowout mode, his makeup speaks, converting him.

i smell sweat and soap. {left}-he seems sweaty and dirty from working. {right}-he seems permed, washed, perky, and ready to go.

i hear laughs from behind the camera. the photos must have been humorous, as most are.

i taste hairspray and oil. {left}- his bronzed body must have sweat and grime on it(oil). {right}-his hair must have been spray with chemicals from hairspray.

i feel like i know the subjects feelings{left}- he looks sad and lonely {right}- he looks unfit yet confident

we could take famous photos that have a very distinct shape or line and create a large collage with a face or object made from the photos.

photo manipulation and ethics

a.
  • why/how you would be fired for photo manipulation
  • if we should trust photos today
  • how people from earlier history manipulated photographs
  • how to prevent manipulation
b.
  •  photo manipulation can get the person fired
c.
  • red eye reduction
  • contrast/brightness
  • filters
  • taking unwanted background out of the existing photo
d.
i feel this is unethical since it is practically lying. KK's body has been morphed into a slightly different person. her skin has been retouched making it a more consistent color and smoother, she has been slimed down. even parts of her body have been REMOVED!
e.
i think that this would be an appropriate use of photo manipulation because it creates a family portrait  to bring people together.  this would be okay because it brings together family for family purposes.
